Privacy policy

Beep (“Beep”, “we”, “us”) lets people reach you in an emergency by email or text message, and alerts your phone until you respond. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. It covers the Beep app, the beeppager.com website, and Beep email addresses and phone numbers (together, the “Service”).

Information we collect

From Beep users

  • Account information: your email address and, if you add one, your phone number.
  • Your Beep settings: your Beep email address, paging code, alert volume, and the senders you block.
  • Device information: an identifier for the phone you use Beep on and the push notification token Apple or Google gives us to deliver alerts.
  • Page history: pages you receive, when they arrived, and whether and when you acknowledged them.

From people who send a page

  • Email pages: the sender's email address and name, the subject and message, and the results of standard email authenticity checks.
  • Text message pages: the sender's phone number and the message text.

Automatically

  • Basic technical logs, such as request times and errors, used to run and secure the Service. The website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use information

  • To deliver pages to you and alert your phone until you acknowledge them.
  • To show you who paged you, so you can respond, block a sender, or follow up on a missed page.
  • To prevent spam and abuse, including rate limits and blocking spoofed email.
  • To send you messages about your account and the Service.
  • To fix problems, keep the Service secure, and comply with the law.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Text messaging

If you text a Beep number, we use your phone number and message only to deliver your page to the person you're trying to reach and, where applicable, to reply to you about that page.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

Reply STOP to any Beep number to stop receiving texts from it, or HELP for help. See the SMS terms.

How information is shared

  • With the person you page. When you send a page, the recipient sees your email address or phone number and your message.
  • With service providers who run parts of the Service for us, including Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, email and text message delivery) and Apple and Google (push notifications). They may only use the information to provide services to us.
  • For legal reasons, if required by law or to protect the safety, rights or property of our users, the public or Beep.
  • In a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is open. We keep page history and sender records only as long as needed to provide the Service and prevent abuse. When you delete your account, we delete your information or make it anonymous, unless we need to keep some of it to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.

Your choices

  • Block any sender from the page they sent.
  • Change your Beep email address or paging code at any time.
  • Turn off notifications or critical alerts in your phone's settings.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing support@beeppager.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we'll honor them.

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls and other safeguards to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Children

Beep accounts are not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If the changes are significant, we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
